Whenever I’m witnessing to someone and they don’t seem to be concerned about going to hell or wanting to live in heaven with eternal life this is one of the questions I like to ask.
Imagine if I asked you if you would you sell one of your eyes for a million dollars, would you do it?
Most people will answer no, and so I like to follow up with a second question.
What if I gave you $10 million dollars for both of your eyes would you do it then?
If they said no to the first $1 million, they are most likely going to say no to the selling of both of their eyes.
(Sometimes, I get someone who says yes they would, I shake my head and say no you wouldn’t, your eyes are precious to you. No one in their right mind would give up their sight for money.)
The Bible says that your eyes are merely windows to your soul and what shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and yet loses his own soul.
-
Matthew 6:22-23 “The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, 23 but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!”
- Matthew 16:26 “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?”
So if you’re not willing to sell your eye which is just merely a window to the soul how much more valuable is your soul?
YOUR SOUL IS THE MOST VALUABLE THING YOU POSSESS
You came in this world with nothing (material possessions) and you will leave this world the same way.
- 1 Timothy 6:7 "for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world."
“Don’t lose your soul, Jesus died to save your soul.”
I finish up by saying to them Your eyes are precious, but YOUR LIFE IS EVEN MORE PRECIOUS. Jesus came to give you eternal life. Repent of your sins today and put your faith in Jesus Christ and he will grant you everlasting life.
BONUS TIP:
GIVE THEM A MILLION DOLLAR BILL GOSPEL TRACT...
To sum it up:
- When witnessing to someone who is lost and they don't seemed concerned about dying and going to hell—ask them this question.
-
Look them deeply in the eyes with sincerity. (take off any sunglasses if you have any on.)
- Remember you are trying to reason with them to show them how precious their life is and why Jesus came.
- If you have a gospel tract leave it with them to read over later on. We use the million dollar bill tract because it is a great reminder of our conversation with them.
