What Does the Bible Say About Angels?

What Does the Bible Say About Angels?

As we grow older, we think more about heaven.

We have walked through many seasons — raising families, working long years, loving deeply, grieving deeply. We have seen God’s faithfulness again and again. And as time moves forward, eternity feels closer than it once did.

Many believers quietly wonder:

Are angels real?
Are they near us?
Does God use them in our lives?

The Bible gives us comforting truth.

We Were Made a Little Lower Than the Angels — Yet God Is Mindful of Us

The Scripture says:

“Thou madest him a little lower than the angels…
What is man, that thou art mindful of him?”
— Psalm 8:4–5

Think about that.

Angels are mighty.
They are powerful.
They dwell in God’s presence.

And yet — the Bible says we were made a little lower than the angels.

But here is the beautiful part:

God is mindful of us.

The Creator of heaven and earth thinks about you.

He sees you.

He knows your name.

He knows every prayer you’ve whispered in the night.

Even though angels are glorious beings, Christ did not die for angels.

He died for you.

Angels Minister to God’s People

The Bible tells us plainly:

“Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?”
— Hebrews 1:14

If you belong to Christ, you are an heir of salvation.

God, in His wisdom, sends angels to minister — to serve — those who belong to Him.

Psalm 34:7 gives even more comfort:

“The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.”

Encampeth.

That is a word of protection.

Like soldiers surrounding a camp.

How many times has God protected you and you never knew it?

How many accidents avoided?
How many unseen dangers turned away?
How many answers to prayer you may only understand in heaven?

Has God Assigned a Guardian Angel?

Jesus said something remarkable:

“Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.”
— Matthew 18:10

Notice the phrase — “their angels.”

Scripture strongly suggests that God assigns angels in a personal way to care for His people.

We must be careful not to go beyond what the Bible says. But it is clear that God uses angels individually and intentionally.

You are not forgotten.

You are not overlooked.

The same God who commands hosts of angels is attentive to your life.

Angels Rejoice Over Repentance

The Bible says:

“There is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.”
— Luke 15:10

Heaven celebrates when someone comes to Christ.

If you remember the day you trusted Him — heaven rejoiced over you.

Even now, as you pray for children and grandchildren, do not lose heart.

When one turns to the Lord, the angels rejoice again.

Keep praying.

Jesus Is Greater Than the Angels

As wonderful as angels are, the Bible makes something very clear:

“Being made so much better than the angels…”
— Hebrews 1:4

And again:

“Let all the angels of God worship him.”
— Hebrews 1:6

Even the angels bow before Jesus.

They serve Him.

They worship Him.

They obey Him.

The focus of heaven is not angels.

It is Christ.

A Comfort for the Later Years

As we grow older, we naturally think about eternity more often.

What will it be like?

The Bible says:

“The Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him.”
— Matthew 25:31

Heaven is not empty.

It is alive with worship.

It is filled with light.

It is filled with the presence of Christ.

And for those who belong to Him, there is nothing to fear.

You may feel weaker in body.

You may walk slower than you once did.

But you are precious in the sight of God.

The One who commands angels is mindful of you.

And one day, you will step into a world more real than this one — a world where faith becomes sight.

A Gentle Word of Encouragement

If you are certain of your salvation, rest in that promise.

If you are not, the invitation remains:

“Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
— Romans 10:13

The God who created angels is the same God who offers salvation freely through Jesus Christ.

Final Thought

Yes, we were made a little lower than the angels.

But God is mindful of us.

He numbers our days.

He hears our prayers.

He surrounds us with His care — sometimes in ways we cannot see.

And when we reach heaven, we may finally understand just how near His protection always was.

May that truth steady your heart and bless you deeply today.
